Trivia about God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar and his philosopher guide ,brother Ajit Tendulkar Everyone knows how Sachin's elder brother, Ajit Tendulkar, played a pivotal role in shaping his cricketing journey. However,May I say Ajit's inspiration to steer Sachin towards cricket stemmed from Dev Anand's timeless film "Guide." ...well I can hear you shouting "Howzzzz.. thaaaat!!!!" It was a sultry summer evening in the mid-'80s when Dev Anand's cult classic "Guide" was being telecasted on the only available TV channel,Doordarshan. While families of the Sahitya Sahwas society and the entire colony were captivated by the film.Taking advantage of this young Sachin and his friends executed a plan of pilfering raw mangoes from a mango tree standing in society compound. Mischievous, young Sachin climbed the mango tree, only to lose his balance and fell down with a resounding thud. Hearing the noise, Ajit rushed out to find Sachin lying beneath the tree. In that moment, Ajit thought that his younger bro is wasting his energys and may drift in a wrong direction in life. Ajit was a poet like his father and also he was a good cricketer.On that day Ajit resolved to guide Sachin towards a cricketing career. Without delay, he enrolled Sachin in the prestigious Shivaji Park Cricket Club. At the root of this crusial and decisive moment there was an iconic Film GUIDE. On a lighter note I would say Film guide unknowingly guided Ajit to guide Sachin towards Cricket. The timely decision Ajit Tendulkar took paved the way to making of a Legendary Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. It's Ironical that Dev Anand has acted in first Cricket film of India 'Love Marriage' (1959)and later in 1990 he also produced a cricket film 'Awwal Number' ..now le me say.. Howzz that ?!!
